Tai Lung: “He’s a panda. You’re a panda. What are you going to do big guy, sit on me?” Po: “Don’t tempt me.” This is what we call “prolepsis” in literary studies. That’s just a fancy word for foreshadowing. Po does end up sitting on Tai Lung, and using his big, proudly fat, body to vanquish the evil Tai Lung in battle. Go Po!!! Po is an excellent role model. Toward the end of the film, he proudly states that he is not “a big fat panda,” but “THE big fat panda.” He goes on a journey of self-discovery, has difficulty fitting in, suffers from low self-esteem and the body shaming of others, as well as internalized self-doubt, and finally realizes that there is no secret ingredient, and sees only himself when he opens the scroll awarded to the Dragon Warrior. He finally recognizes that what others perceive as weaknesses are actually his strengths.  There is no secret ingredient. You are not missing anything on your quest to become perfect. You are already there. You just have to realize it.  You are already ready for your battle. Don’t wait until you lose 10 pounds or have rock hard abs before flaunting all your sexiness in a bikini or that cute dress you love. Do it now. There is no secret ingredient. There is only you. There is no right way to have a body.
